Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $60,000 to British Columbia nonprofit organizations, businesses, municipalities, and regional districts for environmental stewardship projects in eligible locations. Applicants must submit an EOI prior to submitting a full proposal. Funding is intended for activities that are initiated and supported by the community. Projects must take place within the Columbia Basin Trust region consisting of all the watersheds that flow into the Columbia River in Canada. The region encompasses nearly 80,000 square kilometers in southeastern British Columbia.

The Trust welcomes project ideas in each of the project categories that address climate resilience:

  • Ecosystems
    • Enhance or conserve ecosystems and/or species of conservation concern.
    • Reduce the threat of significant invasive species to terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems.
    • Ecosystem related research projects that contribute to ecosystem conservation and/or enhancement.
  • Water Projects
    • Support the protection, enhancement, or restoration of water resources that are important for species and/or ecosystems of conservation concern.
    • Carry out water quality and/or quantity research that is scientifically sound and will contribute knowledge to the management of water resources for the benefit of ecosystems, communities, and watershed stakeholders.
  • Environmental Education Projects
    • Provide education to Basin residents that help develop an understanding and appreciation of the natural world and motivates ecologically informed decisions and actions.

Priority is given to projects with confirmed cash contributions from the applicant organization or other funders. Projects that demonstrate that fundraising efforts have been made and/or are being undertaken are more likely to receive funding.
