Grants of up to 75% of project costs to Quebec professional dance creation and production organizations, performers, and artist groups for a production project or revival of a dance performance. Goals of the program include supporting young artists and facilitating public attendance and dance performances.

Specifically, this opportunity pursues the following objectives:

- Support artistic excellence in dance, the diversity of practices and creative renewal;
- Encourage the production and dissemination of Quebec choreographic works;
- Support revivals and the performance of works in the repertory;
- Foster the integration of young Quebec artists into a professional work environment;
- Facilitate access throughout Quebec to dance performances and increase attendance at such performances;
- Develop and heighten audience awareness;
- Contribute to the recognition of professional artists.

Term of Contract:

One year.

The CALQ may, under exceptional circumstances, support for a period of two years projects that display artistic promise.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Professional dance creation and production organizations and dance performers and artists' groups that create, produce and promote specific performances. The organization is recognized as a producer when it assumes the artistic management and the cost of designing, rehearsing and presenting the performances.

- The organization must hire professional dancers and professional designers in its discipline;

- The artist must work in the dance sector as a dancer, choreographer or performer;

- The artists' group must ensure that the majority of its member are working in the dance sector as dancers, choreographers or performers.

An artists' group made up mainly of the same people who are working in another artists' group or an organization submitting an application may not submit more than one application per year.

General eligibility:

Artists define themselves as follows:

- They declare themselves to be professional artists;
- They create works or practice an art on their own account or offer their services for remuneration, as creators or performers, especially in the fields under the responsibility of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Quebec (CALQ);
- They have gained the recognition of their peers;
- They disseminate or publicly perform their works in places and/or contexts recognized by their peers.

- The artist must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant within the meaning of section 2(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and in both instances must normally reside in Qu├ębec and have resided there over the past twelve (12) months.

Applicant artists' groups:

- A group refers to a group of writers, storytellers or artists, regardless of their number. Each member of the group must be a professional writer, storyteller or artist and satisfy the program's eligibility requirements. One member must represent the group as coordinator and the group must not have received financial support for the same project under other CALQ programs.

The same coordinator must always represent permanent groups unless exceptional circumstances arise.

To be eligible, an artists' group must:

- Not be registered
- Be registered as an association (ASS) with the Registraire des entreprises du Quebec.

- An artists' group registered with the Registraire des entreprises du Quebec as a general partnership is ineligible.

This support is not available to:

- An organization that receives an operating grant
- An organization, an artist or an artists' group that does not collect any ticketing revenue or guaranteed fee sales in respect of the project submitted.

Pre-Application Information:

Organizations must submit their grant applications in French in conjunction with the Soutien aux projets de creation et de production en musique.
