Grants of $50,000 to Alberta nonprofit organizations and groups, community leagues, school councils, and municipalities for new amenities and facilities that promote community health and wellness. Funding is intended for projects that promote active living, such as construction or replacement of children’s playgrounds, outdoor adult gyms, cycling paths, and recreational facility improvements.

Priority will be given to projects that reflect Alberta Blue Cross's Healthy Communities mandate of promoting active living and wellness at a grassroots community level, with a particular emphasis on children. Please note that facilities must be publicly accessible and free of membership charge.

To ensure province-wide representation, grants will be split annually with one grant each for Edmonton, Calgary, secondary cities, and rural communities. This is done to ensure that grants are equitably distributed on a regional basis throughout the program.
