Guelph Community Foundation - Musagetes Fund

Grants totaling $50,000 to Guelph Area, Ontario nonprofit registered charities to support the ongoing production and enjoyment of visual, performing, and literary arts in the local area. Applicants should contact the Foundation to discuss eligibility prior to submittal. The Fund wishes to support organizations that make a meaningful and lasting contribution to the community and its arts scene.
Each year the fund looks for different types of projects, programs or activities that strengthen community through the arts. This year the Musagetes Fund is interested in organizations that engage a community-based partner with a connection to social justice, environmental resilience and/or intercultural relationships.

Multi-year commitments are not available.
Organizations must have registered charitable status with the Canada Revenue Agency [CRA]. Your charitable registration must be provided.
Your organization may wish to establish a formal agency relationship with a registered Canadian charity, in which case the link must be legitimate and an acceptable agency agreement must exist as per CRA Guidelines. Additional paperwork is required.
Additionally, organizations must:
-Provide services within Guelph and surrounding communities;
-Make services available without discrimination;
-Demonstrate fiscal and management responsibility, capacity for accountability, and financial need.
Note: School-based projects will not be considered.
-Sabbatical leaves or student exchanges
-Operating or capital deficits
-Annual campaigns or fundraising activities
-Ongoing operational costs
-Activities that serve primarily the membership or purposes of religious organizations
-Political organizations or advocacy initiatives
What you do:
1. If your organization falls within the guidelines of eligibility outlined above, contact GCF to further discuss eligibility.
2. After discussion with GCF and the project is considered to be potentially fundable, complete the on-line application form and submit with accompanying attachments (including list of Board to Directors, current operating budget, most recent audited/unaudited financial statement).
3. Participate in interviews as needed throughout the review process.
The project cannot commence before a grant is approved. Funding is not retroactive as per eligibility criteria.
