Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Michigan nonprofit organizations, schools, municipalities, and agencies in eligible locations to address community needs. Funding is intended to support programs, projects, or the purchase of equipment. Focus areas include educational, health, human service, environmental, and recreational concerns. Eligible locations include all areas within Montcalm County and Belding.

Priority is given to the following:

  • Programs/projects that strengthen or support the family
  • Programs/projects that yield substantial community benefits for the resources invested; that serve a broad segment of the community; and that strengthen or support family.
  • Programs/projects that address prevention, as well as, treatment; programs/projects that eliminate dependency; and that develop self-reliance and character.
  • Programs/projects that increase citizens' commitment to meet community needs through involvement in the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Programs/projects that have a strong possibility for benefiting other nonprofit organizations facing similar problems.
  • Programs/projects that will become self-sustaining without requiring ongoing foundation funds.
  • Creative, "cutting edge" programs/projects that address emerging or new community needs.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations (under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), schools, municipalities, and other government entities that serve a charitable purpose are encouraged to apply.

What will typically not be funded, but could be considered?
- General/yearly operating support other than organizational startup expenses
- Projects outside the geographic service area of the GACF

Typically not funded:
- Annual fund-raising drives
- Endowments
- Religious programs that advocate specific religious doctrines or do not serve the broader community

Application deadline: August 13, 2021
Decision: October 18, 2021
Funding available: January 2022

Educationally focused requests will be considered, but are encouraged in the spring education cycle.

The Greenville Area Community Foundation (GACF) staff is available for assistance at any time during the grant application process. Please allow at least 10 days before the deadline if applicant would like staff to review the application for the first time.
