Grants to Ontario charities for projects that will address identified community challenges and help to improve the quality of life in the Niagara region. Applicants must have a consultation meeting with grant staff at least seven days prior to the deadline. Grant making priorities assist with developing and implementing tools and resources to contribute to an organization's success, or address issues and indicators in the Living in Niagara Report 2017.

The Community Grants Program focuses on finding ways to help individuals, families, organizations and communities prosper.  While Niagara is facing many challenges, there is also an opportunity to seek new and sustainable ways of addressing community issues and creating a more collaborative approach to meeting the challenges facing organizations and the community.

The Living in Niagara Report includes indicators in the following areas:

  • Arts, Culture and Heritage
  • Community Belonging
  • Crime, Safety and Security
  • Economic Prosperity
  • Environment
  • Health and Wellness
  • Housing and Shelter
  • Learning and Education
  • People Getting Started
  • Recreation and Sports
  • Transportation and Mobility
  • Work and Employment

All proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • How was the project need determined and what were were the methods used to identify the need?
  • How does the project fit with the priorities of the Niagara Community Foundation?
  • If similar programs are offered within their delivery area, why should the applicant’s program be considered?
  • What is the capability of the applicant to undertake the project?
  • How will the success of the project be determined?
  • How sustainable is the project (if applicable)?
