09/05/18 Midnight - Deadline for Community Needs Grants and The Local Jobs Fund only
Grants to Illinois nonprofit organizations and government agencies for programs and services benefiting the residents of the Peoria Area. Funding is intended to support programming in the following areas: Community Development, Animal Welfare, Education, Economic Development, Health and Wellness, and the Arts.
Grants will be awarded to organizations that serve communities located within a 50 mile radius of the city of Peoria, Illinois.
The Community Foundation of Central Illinois offers the following five Community Grant Programs:
Community Arts Grants are available to organizations that offer art programs to enhance its mission. Art programs must fall into one of these four categories: Arts Education, Performing Arts, Musical and Cultural Activities, or Sculpture / Visual Fine Arts for Display.
The Arts Mean Business Fund was established to support the generation of economic growth in the Peoria region through arts tourism, increased successful arts businesses, greater community participation in the arts, and financial support of the arts from local governments and economic development councils.
Jean M. Ligon Animal Welfare Grants are available to organizations focusing on the care and adoption of homeless cats and dogs, for the neutering of both homeless and other such pets, and for the fostering of research and education revolving around adoption and neutering. Preference is giving to such organizations within the Tri-County Area.
Community Needs Grants are available to organizations offering programs that promote Animal Welfar, Arts, Community Development and Capacity Building; Development of Strong Families; Education; Food Insecurity and Health and Wellness.
The Local Jobs Fund was established to support projects that have a direct linkage to breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping people with the skills to earn significantly more than minimum wage.

Community Arts Grants: Up to $5,000
The Arts Mean Business Fund Grants and The Local Jobs Fund Grants: Up to $2,500
Jean M. Ligon Animal Welfare Grants and Community Needs Grants: Up to $15,000
Funds must be used from April 2018 to March 2019 for Community Arts Grants, The Arts Mean Business Fund Grants, and Jean M. Ligon Animal Welfare Grants.
Funds must be used from October 2018 to November 2019 for Community Needs Grants, and from October 2018 to September 2019 for The Local Jobs Fund Grants.
- Application for the Community Grants of the CFCI is open to all organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, those that operate under a fiscal agent that is a 501(c)3 organization, and to local units of local, county, state or federal government.
- Programs must be operated and organized in such a manner that no applicable anti-discrimination laws are violated.
CFCI does not fund:
- Annual/Capital campaigns
- Sectarian religious purposes: Faith based organizations and churches are eligible if the program serves the community.
- Grants will be made to organizations with programs serving individuals within a 50 mile radius of the city of Peoria, Illinois, excluding Knox and McLean County.
The Application Period will open 60 days prior to the deadline.
The Community Grants Application Due Dates are as follows:
Community Arts Grants: Due March 1, 2018, by midnight.
The Arts Mean Business Fund Grant: Due March 1, 2018, by midnight.
Jean M. Ligon Animal Welfare Grants: Due March 1, 2018, by midnight.
Community Needs Grants: Due September 5, 2018, by midnight.
The Local Jobs Fund Grant: Due September 5, 2018, by midnight.
If the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted the next business day by midnight.
Applicants are highly encouraged to submit applications at least 2 weeks in advance and to call the CFCI’s office to verify that all required materials have been received prior to the deadline.
Each grant opportunity is subject to a review process that may last 30-60 days after the submission deadline. CFCI reserves the right to shorten or extend the process at any time.
Organizations will be notified in writing on the status of the grant application.
