Grants of up to $8,000 to USA nonprofit and charitable organizations for health education programs that develop school and community-based solutions to behavioral health challenges. Funding will support projects focusing on the areas of youth-focused prescription medication safety, and/or cancer prevention education.
Priorities for each of these areas are outlined below.
1. Cancer Prevention Health Education Required Project Criteria:
- Projects must focus on the prevention of a specific type of cancer (i.e. skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, etc.).
- Projects should include an awareness and educational component.
- At a minimum, educational efforts should be made toward:
(A) Increasing knowledge of risk factors and how to minimize those in that are modifiable.
(B) Indicating when screenings for certain cancers should be performed.
(C) Identifying the benefits of early detection.
- The project target audience must be an underserved and/or at-risk population.
2. Prescription Medication Safety Health Education Required Project Criteria:
- Projects must focus specifically on prescription drug safety.
- The project target audience must be youth/young adults between the ages of 2 and 21.
- The project target audience must be an underserved and/or at-risk population.
