Grant Description

Grants of up to £25,000 to United Kingdom charities and support groups for projects supporting children up to 18 years of age who have genetic disorders. Applicants must provide case studies to the grantor. Applicants unsure if their supported families will do so should contact the program office before applying.

Activities must either take place in the UK or benefit UK children and their families and should make a tangible difference to children and families affected by genetic disorders.

Genetic Disorders UK defines a genetic disorder as one that is caused by a single gene mutation or chromosome alteration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- UK-based support group or UK-registered charity working with children (18 or under) affected by genetic disorders.

- Special needs organizations such as playgroups, therapy classes or special schools that provide services to children with a wide range of conditions.

- Support groups working on behalf of children and families affected by a genetic disorder if they are endorsed by a medical professional with recognized expertise in the disorder.

- If you received a grant in 2015, you will not be eligible to receive a grant in 2016.

If you would like to make an application for a grant but are concerned that your charity or support group will not be able to find families who are willing to talk to the media, please do contact us before submitting your application.

The strongest applications for grants of more than £5,000 will be shortlisted and invited to present to the panel in central London on either Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th November 2015.
