Grants to Youngstown area, Ohio nonprofit organizations for programs and services that benefit children, ages twenty-one and below, with medically diagnosed disabilities. Funding may be used for referral and information programs, respite, recreation, or support opportunities for parents and children with disabilities.

The purpose of the grant program is to support the treatment of, care for, and assistance to children with disabilities in and around Youngstown.

Priority is placed on funding therapeutic services for children with medically diagnosed disabilities who reside in Youngstown and its vicinity. 

For capital requests, priority will be given to projects that incorporate the principles of Universal Design.

Term of Contract:

Multi-year commitments will not be considered and recipients should not have an expectation of annual funding.

School requests may be deferred until year end.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Hine Memorial Fund allocates program and capital support to nonprofit 501(c)(3) agencies that assist children with medically diagnosed disabilities, ages twenty-one and below, who are residents of Youngstown and vicinity.

Pre-Application Information:

The Committee meets in March, May, August and November and grants are traditionally awarded within eight weeks following each quarterly deadline. Requests must be received by 4:00 p.m. on:

- Wednesday, January 9, 2019
- Wednesday, April 10, 2019
- Wednesday, July 10, 2019
- Wednesday, October 2, 2019

The Hine Fund Committee will review only one (1) proposal per year per agency. (Exceptions may be made for emergency and unusual circumstances approved by the Executive Director of The Youngstown Foundation.)
