Award to recognize a USA or Territories individual psychologist for outstanding mentorship of junior students and fellow faculty. The award is intended to highlight the achievements of a person who promotes education, professional and personal development, and career guidance.
Qualities that can contribute to a good mentor include:
- Providing guidance in research related to clinical psychology.
- Providing guidance in education and teaching related to clinical psychology.
- Providing guidance in public policy related to clinical psychology.
- Acting as a successful role model. Fostering the development of talents.
- Acting as an advocate and guide and a “friend” with concern for students and junior colleagues and people and support them through their personal development.
- Be supportive on both a personal and professional level.
- Displaying a long-term commitment to mentoring.
