Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $1,000 to Denton, Texas neighborhoods, nonprofit organizations, schools, and community-based groups for community beautification and neighborhood improvement projects. Funding is intended for initiatives that generate community identity and pride. Sample projects include mural art, neighborhood entryway landscaping and signs, community garden projects, and place making and pop-up events.

Each applicant group may request up to $1,000 in grant funds per project.

Term of Contract:

All funding must be spent within 6 months of the date it is received (variances will be granted on a case-by-case basis).

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applications will be accepted from neighborhoods, schools, non-profits, and community-based groups. Applicant groups do not have to be incorporated or formally organized. To be eligible, groups must meet the following criteria:

- Applicants must represent a specific neighborhood or organization and have assembled a team of people willing to work together on the project;
- Projects must align with the Keep Denton Beautiful mission: “To engage our community in creating a clean and beautiful Denton;”
- Project location must be in the Denton city limits;
- While it is preferable that projects take place within a neighborhood area, KDB will consider any project that plans, and seeks to maximize positive benefits, for adjacent neighborhood areas;
- Applicant groups must have a plan for long-term sustainability of the project.

Requests for operating funds, seed funding for nonprofit or for-profit entities, or capital funding will not be considered through this program.

Pre-Application Information:

The 2019 Neighborhood Beautification Grants application will open August 1. Completed application and all supporting materials must be received by Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019 by 5 p.m. CST.

Awarded groups will receive funds by no later than December 2019.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to determine property ownership for proposed project sites. If the proposed project site is on private property, applicants must obtain written permission from the property owner to complete the project before applying for funds from KDB.

Awarded groups must schedule and attend a Project Implementation Training with a Keep Denton Beautiful staff member prior to starting their project.
