Grants of up to $3,000 to Story County, Iowa organizations to support programs and initiatives that impact the lives of local children. Proposals must address one of the following areas: education, financial stability, or health. Funds may be requested for unanticipated, emergency, and underfunded needs.

Proposals may address the expansion of programs and initiatives that are already supported by the funding UWSC (through the ASSET process or grants process) or they may address programs and initiatives not currently funded by UWSC.

Grants shall be made for programs that further the mission of UWSC, and programs that meet needs identified as top priorities in the most recent community needs assessment shall be given special consideration.  Referrals of unfunded or underfunded needs from the most recent ASSET funding cycle shall be given consideration when making grants.  However, other factors shall also be considered in the decision-making process.  

The Golf Fore Kids grant will fund human services programs only.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Agencies submitting proposals may or may not be partner agencies of UWSC.

Agencies that are not UWSC partners must provide their IRS Determination Letter with applicable Internal Revenue Code (such as 501 (c) 3, 170 (c) (1), etc.)

Limitations:
- Capital expenses will generally not be funded (such as computers or other technology hardware) unless the applicant is able to demonstrate that it is essential to the implementation of the program.
- Expenses not critical to the implementation of the program will not usually be considered (such as T-shirts for events or prizes).
- Organizations should not rely on funding annually through the grants program to meet ongoing general program expenses (such as staff salaries).
- Endowments will not be funded.
- Proposals for capital expenditures will not be considered.

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline for proposals is Friday, August 16, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.

Announcement of the programs and initiatives to be funded will be made no later than Friday, October 4, 2019.

Proposals that incorporate matching funds or community resources are encouraged.
