Awards to New Mexico science teachers of grades 6-12 who have demonstrated excellence in teaching the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math) to their students. These awards honor two outstanding teachers each year at the funding source's annual symposium with an engraved plaque, a monetary award, and classroom materials.

The American Chemical Society has partnered with NMAS and currently presents the monetary award to both NMAS winning teachers.

Since 1990, awards have been given to two teachers annually.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Academy honors two outstanding teachers each year at the annual NMAS symposium/meeting with an engraved plaque, a monetary award provided by ACS, and classroom materials. Each winner and a guest are provided a hotel room and event registration/meal for the annual award ceremony.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nominations are open to all grade 6-12 teachers who teach or promote STEM subjects in New Mexico.

Nominations can come from school administrators, parents of students, colleagues, or teachers can self-nominate.
