Grants of up to $5,000 to Pottawattamie County, Iowa neighborhood groups, and $500 to individuals, for projects that support positive relationships, and connect residents and resident-led groups across neighborhoods so they can learn from one another and take action on common concerns.

Projects can include but are not limited to: beautification, literacy programs, after-school activities, block parties, neighborhood fairs and carnivals, block clean-ups and community gardening, parent-teacher organizations, recreation, neighborhood-wide art showcases, development of neighborhood plans, large-scale community organizing efforts, reserving meeting space, and incorporating your neighborhood.

Every neighborhood/group in the county is encouraged to apply for funding.

Neighborhood groups: Up to $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- Neighborhoods/groups can apply for a grant without being an established neighborhood association.

- Projects must be neighborhood-based and resident-led by at least three unrelated persons residing in separate households. Projects must build on strengths and assets already existing in the community, such as residents' specific skills, volunteer skills and labor, or a neighborhood's public spaces, institutions, businesses, or churches.

- In order to receive a large grant (over $500), a neighborhood that is not classified as a 501(c)(3) must apply in partnership with an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor (i.e. a church, library, government entity or other local nonprofit) to receive the grant on the applicant's behalf, and to oversee expenditure in an unobtrusive manner.

Pre-Application Information:

Because the due date falls on a weekend, applications will not be due until the following Monday, August 3.

Applicants are required to contact the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation prior to submitting their grant application.

To apply, download the attached application form. Then, review the entire application, contact the Pottawattamie County Community Foundation, complete the application, save a copy to your computer, print the application, obtain the required signatures and documents, and submit to the address below.

Applicants that are requesting $500 and under may submit their application at any time between April 1st and September 1st. Please allow one month to receive a notice on the status of your application.
