Grant Description
Award of $2,000 to a USA K-6 teacher to recognize excellence in helping students improve in writing. Applicants should explain and demonstrate their philosophy about writing instruction and student progress. In addition, teachers must provide student writing samples with teacher comments.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Teachers in grades K-6 are eligible for the award.

Pre-Application Information
For full consideration, all materials must be received by the May 1 deadline and sent by email.

The NCTE Elementary Section Steering Committee selects an award recipient from the essays and materials submitted during the year. If the Committee feels that no significant portfolios or essays have been submitted, the award may be postponed until the next year.

Estimated Size of Grant
The award recipient will receive a $2,000 honorarium.
