Grants to USA Writing Teachers in Multiple States
to Attend a Professional Development Conference

Agency Type:

Foundation / Corporation

Funding Source:

Add to My Calendar

Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), Cengage Learning

Deadline Date:

11/01/16

Description:

Request a Grant Writer

Grants of $315 to Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, California, and Washington part-time and adjunct teachers to attend a professional development convention. The grant is open to teachers of writing at two-year colleges, four-year colleges, and universities. Each applicant will become a member of the funding source's organization.

The grant includes a check for $150 to help cover expenses, a paid registration for the conference, and a coupon valid for one membership in CCCC. The convention will be held in Portland, Oregon, from March 15-18, 2017.

The foundation suggests that institutions match funding support in order to increase the adjunct and part-time faculty presence at the conference, and offer professional development for staff.

Estimated Size of Grant:

$315

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

A department or individual can nominate teachers who would benefit most from this professional development experience. Additionally, self-nomination is accepted and encouraged.

CCCC seeks nominees exhibiting a sustained interest in the teaching of writing – both faculty early in their career and more experienced faculty – who have never attended a CCCC Convention (individuals who have never attended a CCCC convention will be given first consideration but the foundation will still accept nominations of those who have attended).

While a department or individual may nominate as many teachers who meet these criteria as they would like, there is a generous yet limited number of grants. If there are more nominees than grants, one selection criterion used is the date nominations will be received, so early response is desirable.

Another criterion is proximity to the convention city; this year, nominees from Oregon and the surrounding states are encouraged.

Pre-Application Information:

Submit names, addresses, and email addresses of nominees by email to the contact address below.

Grant winners will be notified by January 2017 and will receive registration materials and procedures for grant payments.
