Grant Description
Grant to a California nonprofit, faith-based, or community organization, tribal government, or educational institution for outreach projects that benefit seasonal and migrant farmworkers. Funding is intended for radio talk shows that educate farmworkers and their families regarding employment rights, programs, and services offered through the state.

The primary goal of this grant is to develop and deliver 16 semi-monthly, 30-minute hosted radio shows and record in video format for the MSFW population in Spanish. Additionally, the grantee must use complementing online and social media outlets to publicize the radio talk show and communicate additional information as necessary to enhance existing outreach channels to support the outreach efforts by government, community-based organizations, and partners serving MSFWs in rural and hard to reach communities.

Proposals must focus on providing timely dissemination of accurate and pertinent information regarding programs and services to MSFWs and their families. Target populations must include hard to reach and underrepresented high-density farmworker agricultural areas.

By way of a one-year contract, the EDD will require the Subrecipient to use the award to create and broadcast 16 semi-monthly, 30-minute hosted radio talk show programs in Spanish and recorded in video format publicizing the EDD and partner services as well as pertinent information on topics important in the farmworker community. Additionally, the Subrecipient must create complementing media posts on the Subrecipient’s website and use social media outlets to publicize the radio talk show videos.

All broadcasted and other media communications must support and expand on the outreach efforts of the EDD Workforce Services Branch (WSB), designated Significant and Multilingual MSFW America’s Job Center of California (AJCC) offices, and related partner organizations to achieve comprehensive, statewide outreach information campaigns for MSFWs.
