Grants of up to $2,000 to New Mexico teachers in grades 4-9 for unique and innovative lessons that strengthen science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. Lessons that could otherwise be funded through routine or recurring funding sources are discouraged.
The following elements are sought:
-Scalability of the project is an important factor. Projects that have the potential for adaption to multiple grades with a school or potential distribution to the same grade level across a district are highly favored.
-Engagement of volunteers, community partners or outside experts is favored and the budget may reflect those costs.
-Cross discipline collaboration is a positive. Lessons that are team taught or are collaborative across departments are viewed more favorably.
-Specific application to STEM core concepts and critical thinking need to be addressed in the proposal.
