Award of $1,000 to a USA or Canada individual or research team for excellence in service to a public library. The award will recognize the outstanding research the individual or team has contributed and the significant impact this has made. Research covers the areas of cultural programming; reference services; genre fiction; literacy; readers’ advisory; services to special adult populations such as people with disabilities, minority groups, and older adults; and related areas.
As well as the monetary award, the winner will be presented at the ALISE Annual Conference with a plaque. The winner will present a summary/assessment of the work in the area of the award at the ALISE Annual Conference.
Proposals will be judged on the following criteria:
- Appropriateness to the purpose and eligibility of the award.
- Completeness of the application.
- The significance of the research.
- The originality of the research.
- Impact (potential or actual) on research or practice.
-The quality of the research design.
- Research track record of the nominee.
- Strength of letters of support
