Grants to Rhode Island community-based organizations in areas where the funding source has a business presence to address the needs of underprivileged residents. Funding is intended to help meet the needs of underserved populations, with an emphasis on education, economic security, and capacity building. The purpose of the grant is to foster and implement innovative and transforming approaches to advancing positive community impact.

Education: Consideration will be given to programs that ensure that children in Rhode Island are ready to learn, are engaged learners, and supported by their family, schools, and community. Specifically, in the following areas:

  • Early childhood education
  • Out of school time / Summer Learning
  • Social and Emotional Learning
  • High School completion and higher education enrollment
  • Family and community engagement programs
  • Support for diverse learning needs

Economic Security: The Foundation will invest in programs that work to remove barriers and support underserved individuals and families. Specifically, programs that:  

  • Help individuals meet basic needs
  • Provide access to adult education, GED completion, English language classes, etc.
  • Housing (home ownership and counseling, eviction and homelessness prevention)
  • Affordable housing development
  • Financial Education and coaching
  • Food Insecurity
  • Elderly safety and wellbeing

Capacity Building: The Foundation recognizes that community-based organizations are under tremendous pressure to provide quality services while trying to perform in a diminishing and competitive funding landscape. To help support the effectiveness of program and service delivery they will invest in:

  • Leadership development – board and staff education
  • Program evaluation
  • Marketing and communications
  • Technology enhancements
  • Organizational improvements
  • Strategic and succession planning
  • Innovation funds – Funds will be considered to help nonprofits diversify revenues, invest in their businesses, and explore strategic collaboration.

The Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation strives to support local community-based organizations tackling the state’s most significant challenges and help meet the needs of Rhode Island's underserved population.

Pre-Application Information:
