Grants of up to $10,000 to North Carolina nonprofit organizations, governmental and educational institutions, and congregations in eligible locations for programs to meet community needs. Funding is intended for projects and programs in the areas of arts and culture, animal welfare, career readiness and workforce development, environment, health care, human services, and public education. Programs must benefit residents of Salisbury and Rowan County.

Within the health care area, priority will be to COVID-19 relief. Within the human services area, priority will be given to organizations serving at-risk populations. Public education areas include higher and early childhood education.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The Foundation will accept proposals up to $10,000, noting that awards typically range from $2,500- $8,000.

Term of Contract:

Grants are one year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants must be awarded to eligible organizations including 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, congregations, governmental and educational institutions for projects that will serve the residents of Salisbury and Rowan County. If the organization conducting the project is not an eligible organization, a grant can be applied for under the fiscal sponsorship of an eligible organization.

Please note, the following areas do not fall within the Salisbury-Rowan Community Foundation’s current funding priorities:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Duplication of existing programs
- Endowment funds
- Publication of books
- Projects typically the funding responsibility of government
- Sponsorships or fundraisers

Please note, the following areas are ineligible for funding:
- Projects that promote political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities

Pre-Application Information:

Completed applications must be submitted by Friday, September 11, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.

Applications for this grant program are only accepted online using the Foundation For The Carolinas online grant portal. Please note: The online grant application system closes promptly at noon and will not accept any late submissions.

Award and decline notifications will be made via email by late November.

Requests for projects/programs should not duplicate existing services. Grants may be awarded to organizations funded in the past, but not typically to fund the same or similar project/program for more than three years.
