Grants of up to $2,000 to Texas academic teams for financial support to participate in computer science and STEM competitions. Priority will be given to teams of students that demonstrate financial need and are underserved or underrepresented within STEM education, such as females and minorities. Teams may receive a combination of financial support and in-kind computer donations.

Teams are eligible to receive support for the following First in Texas competitions:

1) Lego League Junior
-Rookie Teams: $300
-Veteran Teams: $100

2) Lego League
-Rookie Teams: $450 and a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $300

3) Tech Challenge
-Rookie Teams: $1,000 and a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $500

4) Robotics Competition
-Rookie Teams: $2,000 and a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $1,000

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All FIRST teams located in Texas are eligible.

Teams with other underserved and underrepresented populations will also receive priority.

Pre-Application Information:

Grant calendar for the 2018-2019 season:

Round One:
Applications Due September 9; Review begins September 10; Notifications complete September 14; Grant checks processed October 5

Round two:
Applications Due September 30; Review begins October 1; Notifications complete October 5; Grant checks processed, November 5

Round Three:
Applications Due October 21; Review begins October 22; Notifications complete October 26; Grant checks processed, December 5

January onward: Additional grants awarded as available

Teams who receive Grant Awards will need to submit the required paperwork and information by the “Date Due” in order to be included in the next check run.
