Grants of up to $2,500 to Texas academic teams for financial support to participate in computer science and STEM competitions. Priority will be given to teams that are primarily female or have other underrepresented populations. Teams may receive a combination of financial support and in-kind computer donations.

Teams are eligible to receive support for the following First in Texas competitions.

1) Junior Lego League
-Rookie Teams: $75

2) Lego League
-Rookie Teams: $500 & a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $300

3) Tech Challenge
-Rookie Teams: $1,500 & a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $1,000

4) Robotics Competition
-Rookie Teams: $2,500 & a Dell Laptop
-Veteran Teams: $2,500

Competitions take place during the 2016 - 2017 season.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Academic teams are eligible to apply.

Teams given grants by Dell will need to prove their financial need during the 2016 – 2017 season.

All girls teams or teams with equal or more girls than boys will receive priority.

Teams with other underserved and underrepresented populations will also receive priority

Grant Calendar:

Applications are due by October 31. Notifications will be issued between November 15 and 30. Grants will be disbursed between December 1 and 15.

Teams will be notified as soon as a decision has been made, whether or not they have been selected for a grant. This is a rolling process.

Teams may be placed on the waitlist for a specific grant. A team may be on multiple grants’ waitlists. In the event that a selected team withdraws, is unable to document eligibility, or chooses to decline the grant they were selected for, teams will be chosen from the waitlist. Teams on the waitlist will also be considered for any new grant opportunities that may develop throughout the season.
