Grant Description

Grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 to Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Nova Scotia nonprofit organizations to benefit children and youth. Projects or programs must focus on children or youth for health, education, or fighting against poverty.

The grants must be for a specific project or program aimed at fulfilling basic needs while promoting self-sufficiency and benefit a number of children or youth.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The organization must be a nonprofit organization registered with the Canada Revenue Agency.

The organization must be no more than 100 kilometers from a McKesson Canada facility or office. McKesson Canada facilities and offices are located in St. John’s (Newfoundland and Labrador), Moncton, Dartmouth, Montreal, Boucherville, Drummondville, Quebec City, Mississauga, Brampton, Chatham, Ottawa, Trenton, Toronto, Oakville, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver.

The McKesson Foundation operates from the United States and complies with the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). In order to be approved by the IRS as an organization that the Foundation can support, the organization should get at least 33% of its income from public support.

Not eligible:
-Religious organizations that actively proselytize a particular religious point of view or philosophy or only serve people of their faith
-Veterans, labor, athletic or fraternal groups (except when these groups provide needed services to the community-at-large, such as soup kitchens)
-Health organizations concentrating on research or on one disease
-McKesson Canada customers or suppliers
-Lobbying, political causes or campaigns
-Projects or programs that do not directly benefit communities within a 100 km radius of a McKesson Canada facility or office
-Endowment funds
- In general, salaries and operating costs are not eligible for grants unless they are an integral part of a project or program. (For example, when producing a book, a writer and a graphic designer must be hired. Their salaries can be included in the overall budget of the grant request.)
