Grants ranging from $1,000 to $7,000 to California nonprofit organizations for projects that bring people together to improve the quality of life within the San Ysidro, Nestor and Otay Mesa communities. Projects may involve the arts, health, youth, housing, literacy, and community engagement.
Examples of successfully funded projects could include, but are not limited to:
-Arts programs that involve students, seniors or other community members to enhance the community
-Health programs that gather community members around a common cause of interest or a concern in the community
-Youth programs that focus on engaging students involved in their community
-Housing and shelter programs that work with individuals to better their current living situations in the community
-Literacy programs that work with residents on education around a particular social issue or topic centered in the community
In addition, projects that fall within the category of Community Engagement will involve a combination of residents, businesses, and community leaders to find solutions to challenges that are faced within the community.
