Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $3,000 to Montana childcare providers in Cascade, Chouteau, Glacier, Toole, Pondera, or Teton Counties to better serve the children in their care. Funding may be used for a wide range of purposes, including, but not limited to, licensing costs, equipment purchase, and professional development.

Generally, funding may be requested for the purposes of:

-Purchase of cribs that meet the new Federal Standards

-New providers to become fully registered/licensed

-Licensing compliance such as balance of funds needed for full year of insurance, egress windows, play equipment, etc.

-Professional Development, particularly courses taken in preparation to meet STAR One requirements and to assist with year one professional development plans, etc.

-Practitioner registry fees for caregiver not in STARS formally

-Business equipment such as a computer to manage CACFP Claims and customer billing

-To assist in continual quality improvement or to meet additional requirements

It is a reasonable expectation that purchases including shipping and handling are covered as part of the awarded funds.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Group/Family Providers: Up to $2,000.

Center Providers: Up to $3,000.

Term of Contract:

Grants are for one year.

Purchases paid for by the grant must occur after the effective date of the grant.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

You must be a currently licensed or registered child care provider and be a registered member of the Early Childhood Career Development Practitioner Registry. The mini grant funds may be used to pay the fees to become a member of the Practitioner Registry. If you are already on the Registry, proof must be submitted with your grant application.

Restrictions:

-If you are a STARS to quality participant you may not apply for a mini grant.

-Mini grants are not to be used for programs formally enrolled as STARS incentives providers because they receive STARS incentives. Providers who have been disqualified with cause from the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) or if they or anyone related to the business have had 3 strikes in the Best Beginnings Child Care Scholarship Program due to fraud.
