Grants to Florida nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational entities, and individuals to support arts and cultural activities. Grant funds may be used to support programs, projects, series, or exhibitions. Funding areas include arts and cultural projects, arts in education, arts in underserved communities, and individual artistic projects.

Grants for Organizations:

  • Arts in Education projects promote arts and culture in education. There are two types of Arts in Education grants for organizations.
    • Artist Residency projects place professional Florida artists in a variety of education and community settings.
    • Arts Partnership supports projects that will advance arts education and the development of long-term partnerships between community arts and cultural organizations, social service agencies and educational entities.
  • Discipline-based projects include dance, literature, media arts (i.e., film, radio or television), museum, music, presenter, theatre, traditional arts and visual arts.
  • Underserved Cultural Community Development projects assist with the development of underserved cultural organizations.

Grants for Artists: 

  • Individual Artist project grants supports artist-driven projects that have public benefit and enhance the State of Florida through the creation or presentation of artistic work. Individual Artist projects can be in all artistic disciplines, genres and styles.
  • Arts in Education promotes arts and culture in education. There are two categories for artists.
  • Artist Performances on Tour provides funding to performing artists for touring activities to underserved communities; touring activities include both a performance and an educational component.
  • Teaching Artist funds artists providing educational services in Florida public schools. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of classroom experience.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All applicants must meet the following basic eligibility requirements at the time of application.
1. All current and previous grantees must be in good standing with the Division of Cultural Affairs and the Department of State at the time of application.
2. Applicant organization must be either a public entity or a Florida non-profit, tax-exempt corporation as of the application deadline.
3. All organizations must have at least one year of completed arts and cultural programming and be able to provide their last completed fiscal year’s operating budget.
4. Applicant must have registered with the Division of Corporations, and their status be “active,” as of the application deadline (http://www.sunbiz.org).
5. Applicant must be registered as a vendor with the Department of Financial Services, and be able to provide a copy of their Florida Substitute W-9 form (https://flvendor.myfloridacfo.com).
6. Applicant must have a DUNS number (https://www.dandb.com/).

Pre-Application Information:

The application opens on April 1 and closes automatically at 5 p.m. ET on the application deadline, June 1. If a deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the deadline date will be the next business day at 5 p.m. ET.

Timeline:
- April: Announcement of application availability in Florida Administrative Register and via email.
- April – June: Division staff assistance and consultation available to applicants.
- June 1, 5 p.m. ET: Applications due. Applications must be submitted on the DOS Grants System at dosgrants.com on or before this date. If a deadline falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the deadline date will be the next business day.
- June – August: Division staff complete eligibility reviews and prepare applications to go to panelists for preliminary scoring.
- August – October: Panel Meetings for final review and scoring of applications.
- July 1: Notification of Grant Award and grant agreement sent to grantees. Grant period begins (July 1 – June 30).
- January 30: Mid-Year reports due for projects. Mid-Year reports must be submitted on the DOS Grants System at dosgrants.com.
- June 30: End date for projects. All grant and local matching funds must be expended by this date.
- July 30, 5 p.m. ET: Final Reports due for projects must be submitted on the DOS Grants System at dosgrants.com.
