Award of $2,000 to recognize a Guilford County, North Carolina public school teacher for outstanding work in teaching reading proficiency. This award is intended to honor a reading teacher for his or her efforts in reading education. Priority will be given to nominees who demonstrate innovation, creativity, contributions to student achievement, and contributions to curriculum improvement.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The award winner will receive an unrestricted grant in the amount of $2,000, to be paid in two annual installments of $1,000 each.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

- To be eligible for this award a nominee must be employed as a reading teacher in Guilford County Schools and have worked a minimum of three years for the District.
- This individual must demonstrate exceptional effort and professional skill in reading instruction and the development of reading competency.
- The Fund is particularly interested in examples of innovation and contributions to student achievement and contributions to curriculum improvement.

Pre-Application Information:

Principals, teachers, parents, and the public may submit nominations. No person or group may nominate more than two persons. Self-nominations are also encouraged.

Nominations should include only the teacher’s name and school. The Enrichment Fund will send an application and further instructions to each qualified nominee. The nominee must complete the application forms to remain in consideration for the award.

A previous recipient of the award will be ineligible to apply for the award if s/he has received the same award within the previous four years.
