Grants of up to $30,000 to Alberta municipalities, indigenous settlements, and waste authorities for upgrading tire collection areas at transfer stations, landfills, or recycling depots. Funds are intended to provide assistance in improving the way that scrap tires are managed and collected for recycling. The project must be accessible to the general public and to local businesses.
Funding must be applied to the construction of either:
a) Single cell bunkers constructed with concrete blocks
b) Access ramps to tire cages, making it easier for the public to place their tires in cages
c) “Other” as approved by Alberta Recycling
Some examples of materials approved for funding in the construction of a TMA could include:
a) Concrete blocks incl. purchase, delivery, and placement
b) Installation of all-weather base for tire collection area
c) “Other” as approved by Alberta Recycling
This grant does not provide funding for the purchase of equipment such as cages (which can be provided by tire recyclers), loading equipment etc.
