Awards to Arkansas organizations, communities, and individuals for their contributions to tourism. Award categories include media, preservation and heritage, outstanding and unique events and attractions, volunteer services, tourism development, and exceptional individual accomplishments.

Award Categories:

  • Tourism Hall of Fame - Presented to individuals who have been actively involved for many years in tourism and have made substantial contributions to the betterment of the industry.
  • Tourism Person of the Year - Presented to an individual who has been actively involved in tourism and has made a substantial contribution within the past year to the betterment of the industry
  • The Natural State Community Development - Presented to a community, organization, special event or attraction for an innovative project that “stands out in the crowd” because of its unique appeal or creative approach that increases community pride and placemaking.
  • Distinguished Volunteer Service - Presented to an individual or group that has made a substantial contribution to Arkansas’s tourism industry while demonstrating outstanding volunteer spirit.
  • Bootstrap - Presented to an individual, organization or community that has achieved significant success within the tourism industry on a “shoestring” budget.
  • Media Support - Presented to an individual or organization that has provided extraordinary attention/ support for Arkansas’s tourism industry through the use of the media.
  • Exceptional Use of Social Media - Presented to a community or organization that has demonstrated effective and innovative use of social media for a specific campaign or special event to promote tourism, community pride or placemaking.
  • Outstanding Digital Campaign/Website - Presented to an individual or organization or community that has provided extraordinary attention/support for Arkansas’s tourism industry through the use of the media.
  • Tourism Region of the Year - Presented to one of Arkansas’s 12 Regional Tourist Associations for excellence over the course of the previous year. Voted on by the Arkansas tourism industry and all registered conference attendees. Winner will be chosen from public nominations by conference registrants through an online vote. 

The annual ceremony honoring nominees and winners will be a major highlight of the 46th Annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism, to be held in Fort Smith on March 1-3, 2020.

Pre-Application Information:

Submit nominations for these prestigious awards as soon as possible before Friday, November 29, 2019.

A written justification must accompany each nomination. Be certain to indicate the nominee name and award category to be eligible for consideration. Any nomination without a justification will be automatically disqualified.
