Grants of up to $250 to New York artists in eligible locations to mitigate income loss due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Funding is intended to benefit visual artists of any medium, writers, performers, creators, filmmaker, and media artists. Artists must be living in Tompkins County.

Fund Eligibility:

  • An artist can apply on behalf of a group, such as a band they are a member of.
  • The following is an example of lost artist-related income eligible to be funded by this grant: workshops, commissions, readings, performances, concerts, or exhibitions. This is not an exhaustive list and is purposely left flexible. However, the lost income must be from an arts and/or cultural related activity.
  • Note: Although the application does not require the submission of a resume, one might be requested after the deadline if the applicant does not have a website and/or if the decision making panel is not familiar with the applicant.

Granted funds can be used at the applicant’s discretion to best serve their financial needs

Applicant Eligibiilty:
- Applicant artists must be over 18, and living in Tompkins County, NY since January 2019.
- “Artist” is defined as: Visual Artist of any medium; Writer (poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction); Performer (dance, music, theatre, storytelling, actor); Creator (choreographer, composer, songwriter, playwright), or Filmmaker/Media artist.

Activities whose sole purpose is fundraising, scholarships, fellowships, awards, or activities that have already received funding from CAP’s SOS grant or NYSCA grant programs cannot be supported by this Emergency Arts Relief Grant funding.

Pre-proposal Conference:

This one hour workshop will cover information about CAP's upcoming grant programs for Tompkins County n-f-p organizations and artists. The workshop will also cover specific grant writing advice!
