Grants to Iowa nonprofit organizations to enhance the quality of life in eligible locations. Funding is intended to support programs and projects in the areas of education, arts and culture, health and human services, community betterment, youth development, and recreation and environment. Funds must benefit Hamilton County.

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation wants to help develop all their communities into places where people want to live, as well as to benefit rural areas of the county.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant requests cannot exceed 50% of the total grant project budget.

Term of Contract:

Grants will be awarded for nine (9) months. Projects requiring more than nine months should indicate the need for additional time in the grant application.

If the project cannot be completed by December 31, 2021, a grant recipient can request an extension on the project via email.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for grant funding your organization must be:
- Tax exempt, non-profit entities classified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) or a 170 (c)(1) governmental entity.
- If not 501(c)(3), you must have a fiscal sponsor who will be legally and financially responsible. (Fiscal agents can sponsor more than one project and submit a project of their own.)
- Only one application per organization is allowed.
- An agency may have only one current grant, previous grants not completed cannot apply for this year’s grant cycle.

Pre-Application Information:

The 2021 Grant Application Deadline: On or before 5 PM, December 31, 2020. Applications received after 5 PM are considered late and will not be considered for funding.

Timeline:

- Release of Grant Application on website October 28, 2020
- Application Due December 31, 2020 by 5 PM
- Notification of Grant Status February 15, 2021
- Distribution of Grants Tentative - Last week of February or first week of March 2021
- Three Month Report Due June 2021
- Six Month Report Due September 2021
- Final Report Due December 31, 2021

To submit a grant application, submit one copy electronically (via email) by the deadline date and time to Darcy Swon. One hard copy of the application must be mailed to or dropped off at the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation offices. The hard copy of the application can be mailed after the electronic copy has been sent. The electronic copy of the application needs to received by the deadline to meet application requirements.

If your organization is asked to meet with the Grant Review Committee, the meetings will be held the week of January 18, 2021.
