Grants to Oklahoma universities and colleges to provide educational opportunities to women. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of single mother students. Grant funds may be used to support new or existing events and programs and to increase awareness about educational opportunities for students who are single mothers.

The Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma invests in economic self-sufficiency for Oklahoma women and girls and is specifically interested in advancing educational opportunities for single mother students. The Women's Foundation made a commitment to provide ongoing support to Oklahoma's low-income single mothers working to complete their post-secondary education. The Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma Grant is to be used to further assist efforts toward recruitment, enrollment, and retention of single mothers pursuing a degree and/or career certification at public higher education institutions. This grant making initiative focuses on providing systemic support for single mother students on campuses across Oklahoma. 

Grant applications should be focused on one or more of the following program strategies:

  • Expanding awareness of educational opportunities for single mother students on your campus
  • Creating new and/or supporting existing programs for single mother students on your campus
  • Creating new and/or supporting existing events for single mother students

Up to $5,000

Term of Contract:

Term of Grant Implementation: June 15, 2020 through May 30, 2021 (one full academic year)

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All public college and university campus recruitment/advisement offices that work with non-traditional programs for students who are single mothers are encouraged to apply.

This grant will not fund capital campaigns or scholarships.

Pre-Application Information:

Grants are funded each spring. The 2020 application will open February 15th with a submission deadline of April 15th. Grant award notifications will be made on or before June 1, 2020.

- Notice of Grant Awards: On or before June 1, 2020
- Term of Grant Implementation: June 15, 2020 through May 30, 2021 (one full academic year)
- Final Evaluation Report with Statistics: June 3, 2021
