Grant Description
Grants of up to $10,000 to New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and other government subdivisions in eligible regions for projects to strengthen local communities. Funding is intended to support specific projects serving residents of New Hampshire and selected communities in Maine and Vermont within the Foundation’s eight regions: Capital, Lakes, Manchester, Monadnock, Nashua, North Country, Piscataqua and Upper Valley.

An Express Grant can only be used for a defined project. Express Grant budget items may include staff or other overhead expenses, but Express Grant funds will be tied to the particular project and its activities as described in the application narrative and budget.

Additional Eligibility Criteria
This competitive grant program awards project support to nonprofit organizations working in New Hampshire and selected communities in Maine and Vermont.

Must be recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or be a municipality or other subdivision of government. Organizations that do not have public charity status may apply for grants if another public charity acts as a fiscal sponsor.

The Foundation will not make a grant through this program to:
- Public and Private Schools
- Hospitals
- Colleges and Universities
- Religious Organizations, except for services that are non-discriminatory, non-sectarian and benefit the larger community
- Organizations exclusively focused on substance use disorder prevention, treatment or recovery support services.
- Organizations that received a multiyear unrestricted community grant in 2019, 2020 or 2021 may not apply for an Express grant.
