Grants of up to $75,000 to Vermont public K-12 schools and nonprofit low-income housing organizations for the installation of new advanced wood heating systems. Questions are due by December 1. The purpose of this program is to promote the development and deployment of cost-effective, highly efficient, renewable wood heating systems for the long-term benefit of Vermonters.
The CEDF defines advanced wood heating (AWH) as wood heating that utilizes highly efficient combustion technology; produces low levels of emissions; supports healthy forest ecosystems; and strives to consume local wood.
Funds will be used towards the direct costs of installing new AWH systems. Eligible costs will be limited to the cost of: wood heating boilers, thermal storage, wood fuel storage and connections and controls required to integrate the new wood heating system into an existing system.

All projects funded under this solicitation should start construction or installation within 12 months from the execution of the grant agreement with the State.
The term of the grant will last two years from the date of the project’s commissioning to provide time for system performance reporting.
