Grants to San Diego County, California K-8 public and private elementary and middle schools for hands-on gardening projects. Funding is intended for garden plants, tools, soils, environmentally-friendly equipment, and other functional supplies. The Funding Source seeks to enable San Diego children to be involved in schoolyard gardening and outdoor education.

The Grant Committee will determine the individual amounts awarded to each recipient.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Only San Diego County public and private elementary and middle schools are eligible. No preschools, high schools, or schools outside of San Diego County will be considered.

The payee must be the name of a 501 C3 nonprofit, not a person. A tax ID number must be provided.

Salaries, conferences, and garden ornamentation are not funded.

Pre-Application Information:

1. To be considered, all applications must be received via e-mail by the deadline date of October 17, 2017. Please put the name of your school in the subject line of your application.
2. The text of the application must not exceed two pages. In a separate e-mail, applicants may send an additional page of landscape designs, photos, or drawings. Please put the school name in the subject line of the e-mail.
3. To receive a grant, approval from the principal must be sent in a separate e-mail. Please include the phone number and e-mail address where the principal can be reached.
