Grants to Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky nonprofit organizations in eligible counties for community benefit programs. Focus areas include health and safety, inclusion and diversity, education, and the environment. Eligible projects benefit the funding source's hiring counties: Bartholomew, Johnson, Brown, Madison, Dearborn, Marion, Decatur, Monroe, Delaware, Morgan, Fayette, Ohio, Franklin, Ripley, Hamilton, Rush, Hancock, Scott, Henry, Shelby, Jackson, Switzerland, Jefferson, Union, Jennings, and Wayne counties in Indiana; Butler, Hamilton, and Preble counties in Ohio; and Boone County, Kentucky.

Honda favors programs that:

  • Focus on creativity and associate involvement, not solely on money.
  • Challenge individuals to explore their potential for achievement.
  • Provide innovative approaches to community problems.
  • Reflect Honda’s spirit of seeking the toughest challenges and approaching them with youthfulness and creativity.
  • Operate in a manner that is supportive of equal opportunity objectives.

Priority consideration will be given for projects where Honda Manufacturing of Indiana’s associates live and work.

Estimated Size of Grant:

HMIN does not have predetermined funding levels. Applicants should request the amount that meets the needs of the program and at a level that is consistent with the organization’s capacity and other anticipated or received support.

Term of Contract:

- For the December 18, 2019, deadline, the grant term is April 1 – March 31
- For the March 18, 2020, deadline, the grant term is July 1 – June 30
- For the June 17, 2020, deadline, the grant term is October 1 – September 30
- For the September 16, 2020, deadline, the grant term is January 1 – December 31

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applying organizations must be tax‐exempt under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code paragraph 501(c)(3).

HMIN does not contribute to:
-Individuals
-Religious or political groups
-Organizations which are not tax‐exempt under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code paragraph 501(c)(3)
-Programs outside of Honda Manufacturing of Indiana hiring area

Pre-Application Information:

Proposals are considered four times a year by the HMIN Community Engagement Committee (CEC). Quarterly deadlines for submitting proposals are:
- March 18 (for spring meeting)
- June 17 (for summer meeting)
- September 16 (for fall meeting)
- December 18 (for winter meeting)

Proposals are due the next business day if a deadline falls on a weekend.
