Grants of up to $1,000 to Newfoundland and Labrador professional artists to take advantage of unanticipated career-advancing opportunities that involve travel. Applications will be accepted from both individual artists and groups Examples of qualifying activities include artistic development opportunities, presentation, and events that celebrate the artist’s work.

This program is open to all artistic disciplines served by ArtsNL, including dance, film, multidiscipline, music, theatre, visual arts, and writing.

Eligible Activities:
-An invitation to attend a major performance of the artist’s work
-A significant exhibition of the artist’s work
-Receiving, or being nominated for an official regional, national or international honor or award
-Unexpected opportunities to work under an artist/teacher, or to access specialized equipment not available in Newfoundland and Labrador
-An invitation to act as a resource person at a conference, gathering, symposium, seminar, or other event
-An invitation to participate in regional, national, or international auditions

Eligible costs include return airfare, bus or train tickets, local transportation, hotel/accommodation, and per diems.

$10,000

A grant of up to $750 is available for travel within the province, and up to $1,000 for travel outside the province.

Professional individual artist eligibility:
-Must be a Canadian citizen or have Permanent Resident Status
-Must be a current resident of Newfoundland and Labrador for a minimum of 12 consecutive months at the time of application
-Must be at least 18 years of age or have post-secondary standing

Professional arts groups eligibility:
-Must have been active in Newfoundland and Labrador for a minimum of one year at the time of application
-Must have actively engaged in professional arts activities within the last year
-Must have at least half its members residing in Newfoundland and Labrador
-Must have at least half its members who are at least 18 years of age, or have post-secondary standing

Full-time students and arts organizations (or their representatives) are not eligible.

Not Eligible:
-Travel that could have been predicted
-Travel that is part of an ongoing project
-Travel that could have been applied for under the Professional Project Grants Program.
-Activities that occur on a regular basis for which acceptance is not competitive (e.g. annual conferences, festivals, summer schools, etc.)

PATF applications are accepted on an on-going basis with $10,000 available each cycle.

Annual Funding Cycles
-April 1 - July 31
-August 1 - November 30
-December 1 - March 31

The next application deadline is November 30, 2016.

PATF applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and each complete application is processed as it is received. Applications may be submitted up to four weeks before the planned travel date.
