One award of $10,000 to an Indiana individual board member of a nonprofit that serves the citizens of Muncie/Delaware County. This award will recognize an individual board member's efforts and actions that have contributed to the financial success, mission accomplishment, and general effectiveness of the organization he or she serves.
Nominations should identify specific ways the board member has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the organization.

The Fisher Governance Award includes a $10,000 grant to the organization that the honored board member represents.
Eligibility is limited to board members for nonprofit organizations (excluding foundations) in Muncie/Delaware County.
The nominee must have engaged in specific activities to demonstrate his or her exemplification of four basic requirements of board service (mission, financial stability, planning, and recognition of the organization). In addition, the outstanding board member must have displayed integrity, responsibility, accountability, and support of results.
Nonprofits can nominate eligible candidates for the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. Each nominee should have served on the board of the organization for a minimum of two years. Please be specific in describing when and how a candidate provided exemplary leadership and exhibited integrity, responsibility and accountability.

Timeline: The Foundation accepts nominations between March 1 and August 15 each year. BBF staff and family board members review the nominations, make the selection in September and present the award in October.
