Grants of up to $1,500 to North Carolina educators in eligible locations for professional development opportunities. Funding is intended to support training, educational opportunities, and projects that enhance the quality of classroom instruction. The purpose of the program is to improve education in local public schools. Requests will be accepted from educators employed by the Wilkes County School System.

The C. B. Eller Teacher Grants are designed to improve the quality of education in Wilkes County by awarding grants for public school teachers.  Grants are available for professional growth and enrichment opportunities for teachers, guidance counselors, curriculum coordinators, media coordinators, and other educators in Wilkes County.

Grants will be made for educational experiences, training, or projects that will result in teachers’ improved classroom effectiveness. Grants may be made for enrichment studies such as university study expeditions, self-designed educational experiences that focus on individual research, and specialized training through participation in seminar or conference programs.  

Priority is given to requests that demonstrate the following:

  • Impact on students
  • Professional development of the applicant
  • Connection of the educational experience/project to classroom content
  • The dissemination of activities and lessons to other educators

Grants of up to $1,500 will be made.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are available for teachers, guidance counselors, curriculum coordinators, media coordinators, and other educators in Wilkes County.

Individual applicants can apply. Only full or part-time educators employed by the Wilkes County School System who directly interact with students are eligible to apply.

Previous winners are eligible to reapply three years after receiving an Eller grant.

Funds cannot be used for salary support of applicants, for graduate studies, for national board certification, or for add-on licensure.
