Grants ranging from $1,000 to $20,000 to California nonprofits in San Francisco and Mendocino Counties for programs in the areas of education, outdoor education, and hospice care. LOIs are due June 30. Priority will be given to programs serving the economically disadvantaged and requests that can make good use of relatively small grants.

Educational programs should provide an opportunity for academic progress for youth 11-18 years of age, as well as providing a path to vocational training for students. Outdoor education should include camperships, field trips, and environmental education programs that can give young people ages 11-18 a new view of their world

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

-The Foundation supports public charities offering programs in San Francisco and Mendocino counties as well as the Monterey peninsula and Seaside.

-Requests should be for specific programs and projects or operating funds, but the Foundation will occassionally consider grants for capital improvements and equipment (but not computers).

-Most grants range from $1,000 - $20,000 with preference to organizations with a budget under $2 million.

-The Foundation does not support religious entities, medical research, individuals, endowments, or annual appeals.

Pre-Application Information:

Inquiries for the 2016 cycle will be accepted between June 1 - 30, 2016. To submit an Inquiry, email Wendy Yu Einhorn with a brief paragraph summarizing the project.

If successful, candidates will be invited to apply through the online system. Proposals will be accepted between August 1 - 12, 2016.
