Palo Alto Weekly Holiday Fund Grant

Silicon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF)

Agency: Foundation

GrantWatch ID #166730

Grant Description

Grants of up to $15,000 and grants of up to $25,000 per year to California nonprofit organizations in eligible regions to support programs for families and children. Applicants are required to submit an online application form prior to the full grant application. Programs must serve residents of the Palo Alto area.

The Holiday Fund desires to support not only organizations that are providing services to families and children “in crisis,” but also groups that are engaged in efforts to strengthen families, neighborhoods and communities that might be considered preventative in nature.

Areas of funding:

  • Program support grants
  • Child care capital grants, providing non-profit child care centers and preschools funds to improve playgrounds, acquire equipment or renovate facilities
  • Multi-year renewable grants, in support of new program initiatives

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All grants must be made to 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations.

Although not restricted as such, Silicon Valley Community Foundation prefers to fund organizations:
- With budgets less than $3 million
- That are based in Palo Alto, Menlo Park or East Palo Alto and whose sole focus is that region
- That serve a great many people rather than provide intensive service to very few
- Where SVCF's support can make a significant impact

Pre-Application Information:

- The submission deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022.
- On or before Friday, January 28, 2022, all applicants will be advised whether they have been selected for full review. It is anticipated that approximately 50 organizations will be chosen as semi-finalists and be asked to submit additional information.
- For the semi-finalists, a full grant application will be due by 5 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022.
- Announcement of final grant recipients will be made at the end of March.
- Actual grants are made in April.

Multi-year renewable grants will be made one year at a time and renewed based on SVCF's evaluation of the program’s progress. Agencies may apply for both regular program grants and for multi-year grants, but separate applications are required.
