Grants to Minnesota artists for professional development activities. Funding is intended to support established ceramic artists who have shown mastery and dedication to their trade. Funding may be used for the following: purchasing materials and equipment; experimenting with new techniques and materials; collaborating with other artists; and pursuing education, exhibition, or travel opportunities.
The McKnight Artist Fellowship for Ceramic Artists recognizes and supports outstanding mid-career ceramic artists living and working in Minnesota. Applicants should demonstrate a sustained level of accomplishment, commitment, and artistic excellence and may be working in any mode—functional, sculptural, relational, performative, etc.
McKnight Fellowship recipients will be featured in a workshop and an exhibition with a corresponding catalog at the end of their grant year.
Northern Clay Center is committed to building a well-rounded jury that will advocate for any type of work, from figure sculpture to colorful installation, and from majolica to anagama-fired pottery. The program supports Minnesota artists who are making excellent work and whose careers would be enhanced by this recognition and opportunity.
