Grant Description
Grants to Vermont nonprofit organizations to benefit local communities throughout the state. Funding is intended for original programs that address issues related to poverty. Preference will be given to applicants working in the areas of worker's rights, access to affordable health care, equity in education, access to safe and affordable housing, criminal justice reform, access to jobs with livable wages, and access to healthy and affordable food.

Each summer, the Ben & Jerry’s Foundation offers competitive grants to Vermont-based, non-profit organizations working to address the economic, social, and environmental impacts of poverty. The Foundation will seek out innovative programs that are working toward fundamental change in Vermont and that approach their work through the lens of social justice and equity.

The Foundation will prioritize programs that work to involve and give voice to those who are most impacted by the problem the organization seeks to address. Grant recipients may be invited to make a presentation to Ben & Jerry’s Employees at some time during the grant year.

Pre-Application Information
Applications open: March 15, 2023
Deadline: May 3, 2023

The Vermont Equity & Justice grants are offered one cycle per year, so there is only one opportunity each year to apply. In addition, because the program is highly competitive, the Foundation limits funding through this program to three (3) cycles, after which grant partners are requested to take a two-year break from re-applying through this process.

Application Process:
1. Review eligibility requirements
2. Take the eligibility questionnaire
3. Create an account
4. Apply

The Foundation will only consider one application at a time across their grant program options, and thus recommends researching each program to ensure your organization applies to the most targeted program for your needs.
