Grants ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 to New York nonprofits for the development of improved health care services and facilities in the Capital District. Funding is given for capital costs such as building and equipment, as well as for program costs, including salaries and expenses.

Special attention will be given to:
- The importance of the Arnold Cogswell Health Fund grant to any overall building or equipment program.
- Grant requests for new, innovative or meaningful programs.
- Grant requests for the cooperative efforts of several organizations.
- Grant requests for sharing in multiple source funding (private and/or public).

Grants from this fund usually range between $5,000 and $30,000

Term of Contract:

Multi-year funding will be considered, but the grant period may not exceed three years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The following types of organizations are examples of those that would qualify for grants:
- Acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities for the aged or ill, disease and treatment centers.
- Medical colleges, nursing schools, pharmacy colleges, allied health programs.
- Community health centers, clinics and programs, home care for the ill, aged and disabled, childcare for health and social counseling programs.
- Regional health planning groups, hospital consortia, disaster agencies, combination of various health organizations.

A grant may be made to either new or established organizations.

Organizations must serve residents and be located within the ten-county Capital Region of New York State (Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, and Washington Counties) unless otherwise indicated.

A grant will not be made:
- Unless the organization qualifies under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
- For a program that the Community Foundation will have to operate.
- To an individual; however, a grant may be made to an organization which does support the work of an
- Unless a financial audit is submitted which includes a balance sheet and an operating statement.
- For more than a three-year period.
- To finance an operating deficit of a program or organization, or to offset cumulative deficits of prior years.
- For scholarship or fellowships.
- For research.
- For loans (loans will not be made)

Pre-Application Information:

No pre-application required; full applications due September 5, 2018, and must be completed using the online system.

Decision will be made: November 2018.
