Grants of up to $1,000 to Kansas artists in eligible locations for professional development activities. Funding is intended to assist emerging, professional, and practicing artists working in the performing or visual arts. Funds may be used for participation in skill-building opportunities or professional development activities that advance the grantee's artistic work and career. Requests will be accepted from artists who serve the citizens of Wichita.

Funds may be used for such endeavors as: 

  • Artist workshops, conferences, and seminars (including hotel, registration fees, travel)
  • Artist Residencies (including travel expenses)
  • Individual artist website development
  • Resume preparation
  • Professional presentation development

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant awards range from $100 to $1,000.

Term of Contract:

Applicants approved for funding will expend Artist Access funds in 2023.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Artist Access Grants Program is designed to assist practicing, professional or emerging artists serving the citizens of Wichita, Kansas. Applicants must be involved in visual or performing arts.

This program does not fund:
- Individual projects/exhibits/specific performances
- Costs of creating or producing art or an artwork
- Purchases of equipment
- Touring engagements
- Academic or certification conferring endeavors
- Artist materials, supplies or equipment

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline for FY2023 Operating Grant applications is 5 p.m. June 3, 2022.

Applications must be submitted to the Division of Arts and Cultural Services office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022. Electronic submissions may be emailed to Lindsay Benacka.

Applicants funded two consecutive years must wait a year before being eligible to apply again.
