National Life Group Foundation
Grants to Vermont and Texas nonprofit organizations to benefit communities where the funding source has a business presence, mainly Northern and Central Vermont and Dallas, Texas. Priority will go to existing programs that focus on children and families, but the following areas are also considered: the environment, education, health and human services, arts, and recreation.
The Foundation looks for proposals that have:
-A well-planned approach to underlying issues or needs
-A base of support
-A committed and skilled leadership team
The Foundation does not fund new programs. Preference is given to proven programs with metrics to support success.

To be considered for a grant, an organization must be a public charity which is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
-The Foundation does not make grants for endowments, scholarships, higher educational institutions (with the exception of the Foundation's employee matching program), religious organizations, labor and fraternal groups, debt reduction or work that has already been completed.
-Additionally, the Foundation does not make grants to individuals, daycare facilities, or school trips.
-Finally the Foundation does not make grants to organizations that discriminate in any way on the basis of race, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation.
The application period is from January 1 - March 31, 2018. Decisions will be made by May 31, 2018 and if approved, checks will be sent by June 30, 2018.
Please note the Foundation rarely funds an entire program.
