Awards of $1,000 to Forsyth County, North Carolina organizations, groups, and individuals to acknowledge those who are building a stronger community by using innovative methods to forge connections between people. The awards are specifically intended to recognize those who are building "bridging" social capital, or connections among people who are unlike each other, over those who are building "bonding" social capital, or connections among people who are like each other. Social capital is defined as connections among people, based on trust, that enhance cooperation for mutual benefit.
Award recipients will receive a grant to donate to a charitable organization of their choice, hopefully, one that is building social capital in the community.
