Opportunity for New York City high school and college students to participate in a paid internship program. Successful applicants will complete pre-employment training and a paid summer internship that will last for at least six weeks. The purpose of the program is to allow students to explore their interests.
Ladders for Leaders gives students a unique opportunity to explore their career and educational interests through:
Pre-employment Training: Receive help with résumé and cover letter writing, and interviewing skills. Learn essential workplace readiness skills and business etiquette.
Paid Summer Internships: Paid internship opportunities available in a variety of industries to accommodate student interests.
Opportunity to join the growing Alumni Network: Broad network of alumni, post-internship opportunities and networking events open only to past participants of the program
Eligible to Apply:
- Youth between the ages of 16—24 who are enrolled in high school or college
- Resident of one of the five boroughs of New York City
- Prior work experience, either paid or volunteer
- Legally allowed to work in the United States
The deadline to submit applications is 01/21/2024.
There are three phases to the Ladders for Leaders application process:
- Initial application submission and selection
- Pre-employment workshops and mock interviews
- Interviews with potential employers
Participants selected into the program must complete each of the three phases. Failure to complete or attend mandatory program events will result in dismissal from the program.
Please note: you may only submit one application for Ladders for Leaders. Selection into Ladders for Leaders is based on CBO approval and all hiring decisions are made by participating employers. Being selected for and completing the Ladders for Leaders pre-employment training does not guarantee internship placement.
All interns will be paid at least $16 an hour. Your hourly wage may be higher depending on your employer.
Term of Contract
Internships will take place over 6 weeks. You will work 25 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of your individual employer. You will also be required to partake in up to 30 hours of pre-employment workshops and trainings at the discretion of your Ladders Community Partner.
