Scholarships to New Jersey high school students in Middlesex and Monmouth Counties to cover the costs associated with travel to Israel on organized Jewish youth trips. Funding is intended to give teens the opportunity to learn about and connect with their heritage, deepen their pride in Judaism, and strengthen their bond with Israel.

Specifically, these scholarships are for Zionist youth trips to Israel that may include visits to other countries such as Eastern Europe (i.e., March of the Living).

The Anne and Herbert Goldstein Fund for Summer Youth Travel is an additional $1,000 competitive grant intended specifically for travel to Israel in the summer.

Term of Contract:

Scholarships may be for summer trips or for trips during other times of the year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarship recipients will reside in Middlesex or Monmouth County, enter 9th – 12th grade and will be eligible to receive this scholarship one time only.

Pre-proposal Conference:

Scholarship recipients must participate in a meeting at the Federation with their parents, which will include a call out to help raise money for teen grants.

Meetings will be on February 25, 2018 at 3:00 – 5:00 PM, or March 15, 2018 at 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

The meeting will be held at the federation’s office in South River.

Pre-Application Information:

All applications should be submitted to the Federation before April 1 , 2018.

Additionally, scholarship recipients agree to perform local community service before their trip and will submit one article (and 2 photos) about their Israel experience to The Jewish Federation in the Heart of New Jersey, which may be published in the NJ Jewish News, on Facebook and the Federation website.

If a scholarship is awarded, payment is made directly to the program provider.
